Liveblogging Die Hard 4.0 and a lecture on the American Revolution

This guy is talking about the oppressive nature of the media. A truck controlled by some people with computers crashes into Bruce Willis and the guy. They change the traffic lights. Does this mean he is right? Are we supposed to distrust the media now? What kind of ideology is it advocating? What image of America does it represent?

America has such a unique story. Our Declaration of Independence is one that I think is unequalled across the world, because we say that we were created, by God, and God gave us all of our rights, and then we gave part of our rights to government, and reserved the rest to ourselves. And government is limited, and always accountable back to the people. That’s a very unique view of government and its relationship to mankind.

They are still alive. Bruce gets out the car and checks on the taxi in front of him. He says that the person in the taxi should phone 911. We don’t see their face. Is this significant?


This guy is Justin Long. Justin Long is an American actor. He is best known for his roles in the films Jeepers Creepers, Drag Me To Hell, Dodgeball, Waiting…, Live Free or Die Hard, He’s Just Not That Into You, the NBC dramedy series Ed, and his personification of a Macintosh computer in Apple’s “Get a Mac” advertisement campaign. ”

I remember him from He’s Just Not That Into You. He played a mature barman. He is playing a similar knowledge-type here. But he is more nervous here. He is being shot at a lot so I think that makes it OK. There are a lot of guns here.

A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

Bruce Willis just rolled over a police car. Bruce Willis just fell onto the ground. Bruce Willis and Justin Long just dodged a flying taxi. Bruce Willis and Justin Long were in a tunnel. Now there is a helicopter. The helicopter crashes into something. Bruce Willis and Justin Long are still in a tunnel.

One guy is talking to another guy on a phone. He is talking in French or Russian. The other guy is speaking in English. This is a strange way to represent the encounter of two cultures.

The history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States.

Some men are looking at computer screens. “Nothing’s happening.” But obviously something is happening. The guy who said that looks dumb now. I think he will be killed off by the end of the film. Bruce Willis is in a big crowd of people. It reminds me of the Cairo scenes in an Indiana Jones film. Or is it a James Bond film?

The film is showing us a lot of TV reports.

That guy from the West Wing is playing an FBI agent. I’m not sure if he’s in the West Wing. Maybe it’s someone who looks like him. The bad guys are taking over the TV stations to play music. This doesn’t seem that bad. A different type of music is playing non-diegetically over the film to make us realise it is “bad”. Oh, they just blew up the White House. Or was it Capitol Hill? Oh, it turns out it was fake. But it would’ve been a fake anyway. I don’t think they would have let them blow up the real White House for a film. They have not showed the President in this film I don’t think.

The President shall be Commander-in-Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the militia of the several States, when called into the actual service of the United States; he may require the opinion, of writing, of the principal officer in each of the Executive Departments upon any subject relating to the duties of their respective offices, and he shall have power to grant reprieves and pardons for offenses against the United States, except in cases of impeachment.

Is Bruce Willis the President? He is the ‘authority’ of the film. Has Bruce Willis ever played a President? Justin Long is starting to have more authority in this film. Bruce Willis would not have been able to do a lot of things without him. He would not have been able to drive the car he is in currently. He tried to steal a car with a computer in it and Justin Long helped him start it. I don’t know why they didn’t try and steal a car without a computer.

I am bored of this now.
